How is AI used in the animation production process?

In the design/illustration process, AI image generators are used for (parts of) the design, style, and scene design.
AI video generators are then used to animate those scenes (alongside animation software). They bring the still images into motion.

What changes due to AI in the viewer’s attention and preference?

AI makes high-end animation cheaper -and therefore more commonplace- but:

  • More and more people are fed up with the flood of polished, structurally bad generative AI slop.

  • Quality often only turns out to be missing halfway through.

  • Attracting and holding attention is becoming exponentially harder.

  • Now that production is far more efficient, strategic creative concept and design have become even more important.
